Blog Award & Crayon Art

First, I need to thank Jen from http://www.jenscraftcorner.com/. She passed along a blog award to me!

Butterfly_Award1

As part of this award, I have to answer the following 12 questions and pass this on to 6 people.  Here are the answers to my questions:

Name your favorite color? Kelly Green
Name your favorite song? Wishing Heart by Lisa Loeb
Name your favorite dessert? Crème Brulee
What wizzes you off at the moment? wizzes? what an interesting word, but I guess what “wizzes” me off is when someone has to “one up” you.
Your favorite pet? Good thing I only have ONE! Lucie, my black lab/border collie mix. She turns 3 in a couple weeks!
Black or white? Black, but I do love them together!
Your biggest fear? A tree falling on me… and volcanoes and oceans… why am I moving to Hawaii again?

Best feature? My eyes. I love them. I also love my nose.
Everyday attitude? Be yourself and the rest will follow.
What is perfection? A glass of wine with my husband, some crème brulee would perfect to add in as well.
Guilty pleasure? The Sims 3. I am a huge dork. (and anything that sparkles aka glitter)

When you're upset? (I am assuming this means what do you do) I turn up the music and sing loudly. It always makes me feel better!

Now I need to pass this along to 6 people!

Now onto my project! I saw this project circling the web, so I had to make it! I tried it with an 8 x 10 canvas since I probably wont be able to keep it because crayons melt, and I move WAY too much! But why not.

I purchased a box of 64 crayons for a buck. I opted for the the knock off brand to see how it would work. I peeled the labels off and super glued the edge of them to the top of the canvas.

I took this outside with my blow dryer and started going at it! I love how it turned out but I learned that the DARK PURPLE in the middle, and BLACK DO NOT MELT like the other colors…

Here is the finished product.

I hope you enjoyed, it was a lot of fun to make. My husband even thought it looked pretty cool. I think he is starting to enjoy my creativity!

Well I am off to Seattle for the day. I am tagging along with some friends, so who knows what we will be doing! Have a great day!

Where have I been?

Oh life has been crazy. I am so social that sometimes I forget to slow down, and just enjoy my time to myself!

But I do have some BIG news! As of right now, next summer I will be moving... any guesses where to? Well, here is a hint..

Have you guessed yet?

Here is another hint...

Yep! We are moving to Hawaii. (and that's all I know)

So... between this news, getting back from Europe, and preparing to move back to Minnesota for the winter... next summer, I will be enjoying the sun and the beach for a few years... now just to get a bikini body! On with the exercise program, less calories, and healthy food again. Crafting will hopefully get done, but being this busy, I will have to put it on hold for a little while. So I apologize for my less and less posts. When I get to Minnesota, I promise more. I can see this next year flying by fast! So much to do!!

Have a great weekend, we have some friends coming out to visit us, so I need to finish cleaning the house!

The complete set for now…

Here is the complete set. I finished them last night before dinner and think they look great! I can’t wait to make my next state, I just don’t know where it will be yet.

What do you think? I put little anchors on the bottom three because that is where we have been stationed, where as the top three are where we grew up, and met at college.

That’s all for now, how about I head to my “office” and actually scrapbook! I got some new paper from SEI in my club kit last month while I was on vacation that I am dying to use!

Hoo Are You? #51

NightOwlCraftingwhobutton2

1. If you could choose one of your personality traits to pass on to your children, what would it be?

Positive Attitude. When I was growing up, I did not care what people thought of me. I just did what I loved, because I loved it! I hope one day, they do the same.

2. What's your favorite candy bar?

Charleston Chew – Vanilla! It takes me back to when I was a kid and my dad used to get one of each, and we would pick our favorite flavor… I always got vanilla, and we would throw them in the freezer. So good!!

3. If you could vacation anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Oh, what a good one! I have been to a lot of places, but somewhere I have not been, that I would love vacation would be Australia.

4. What 3 adjectives would you use to describe yourself?

Outgoing, supportive, and dedicated.

5. In one word, how would your best friend describe you?

Cherie.

no joke. she would say my name, because if you knew me, it would make sense. (and you say it the french way)

My State Signs

I have seen some super cute projects online. I am still trying to figure out something that I want to make for all the places my husband and I have lived. As of right now, I think I found one that I LOVE, and its super easy to make.

I used my 50 States Cricut Cartridge and cut out the state of choice in vinyl. For this project I made my home state, Minnesota. I placed the cut out vinyl onto the canvas. I made sure the vinyl was going to stay so I used my scrapper to make sure no paint would seep under the vinyl. Then painted it with acrylic paint.

Once the paint dried, I peeled off the vinyl.

After I double checked on a map, I placed a heart on the area where I grew up! Super simple, and in total with drying took about 20 minutes. So here is the final project.

I even made one for where I live now (which was the tester), and is on a different style of canvas.

And now, I am even making one for where I went to school… IOWA STATE!! Go Cyclones! (Which reminds me, its recruitment, my favorite time of year! Good Luck to my little SK’s!) Its still drying, and I think I am going to do two coats of paint, so more work… but I will also make Florida (where we lived right after we got married), and the two other states my hubby lived in Missouri, and Texas… and then who knows where to next!

Here is my sneak peak at Iowa.

I am still in process of organizing my pictures from Europe, but I did have an AMAZING time!! So many fun things to share, but I will share with layouts! I know I have a ton of supplies so I will be working my way through everything! Have a great day!

I am ALMOST back!

Well, this past month has been crazy. I went to Europe for 2 weeks, went up to the cabin, my sister in law had a baby (3 weeks early), my husband is coming to visit and go to a baseball game, and next week, I will make it home.

I logged into blogger to check in on blog posts I read and I have over 3600 new posts to read since July 14th! Oh no! I feel so bad, because I love looking at all the posts, and I wish I had the time to read them all. I am looking at the clock and it is already ONE in the morning! I wish there was more time in the day!!!

I am so excited to scrapbook my trip and share it all with you. I will need a little recovery time (I am sure there are things I need to around the house this next week), and I want to get going on the book before I put it off like all the other ones!
