On My Way!

I am in the airport ready to go back to the Midwest. I have nothing out here in Washington anymore. No house, no “stuff”, nothing. It is kind of surreal. Just leaving. But I am super excited to be home with family, and get back to crafting.

I will be missing out on the ornament exchange, which is a bummer because I LOVE to dress up in a crazy costume, and I bring the most ridiculous ornaments I can find. Last year I bejeweled a bird in all of the random colors I could find, and the layered it with all sorts of glitter!

Since I won’t be able to attend this year, I thought I would send along my latest creation of an ornament to them.

I went to Walmart and picked out a bunch of those wreath clip decorations and clipped them all together! Yep, and they are all different colors! I am just terrible! But someone will get a kick out of it.

They said “White Elephant” and to me, that means used, old, and silly. Well, last year I was the ONLY ONE who brought a “terrible” ornament! I will not lie. The ornament I ended up getting was beautiful! This year I asked, “What do you mean by White Elephant?” The response was, “whatever it means to you!”

So, I am sharing with you, the most horrible ornament I could create this year! Can you imagine that on your tree?? I sure can’t!

Well, my computer is about to die, and the outlet I am sitting next to does not work. Which means my phone is off cause that might die too!

If anyone is in Minnesota and you want to get together sometime, I should also be going through Iowa this year too! (I have to make it back for VEISHEA, and I have a wedding to attend some where in Iowa.) Let me know if there are any events going on, because I would LOVE to attend something before I head out to Hawaii this summer!

Christmas Wreath

I have started to believe that I LOVE making wreaths! My favorite one, was the first one I made last year. you can find it HERE. This year I took another approach. I used tulle. Not just any tulle though, it is GLITTER tulle!

Every year each our spouses club makes wreath to silent auction off. The one that I helped make last year, was not my favorite, but I think it was super cute (pink and blue sparkly things on a grapevine wreath). The proceeds go to local charities, which is totally cool. This year, I volunteered to make one again. I knew I had to step it up. So here is what I created!

Since I am all moved out of my house, I am at my friends house. If you choose to use glittered tulle, be aware that glitter will be EVERYWHERE when you are done. My friends couch it COVERED in red, green, and silver glitter. Whoops! Good thing we are pretty close, otherwise I would be in glittered trouble! haha.

You can see the glitter better here. I bought 5 yards of each color of tulle, but I think I could have got by with 3 yards of each color. I have leftovers and I might make a little wreath for myself. I cut the strips at about 2” wide, and about 8” long… I quartered each strip I cut from the bolt. I just did a loop knot around a 8” metal ring that I picked up at Joann Fabrics (I was in the basic craft supplies, between beading and scrapbooking). I did two loops of each color in a pattern on the ring. I think it turned out great. While it was hanging on the wall, from the side it reminded me of a little girls tutu!

I hope you enjoyed my festive Christmas project! I am Minnesota bound in less that a week!

What are you Thankful for?”

Thanksgiving is a holiday that my husband and I have been celebrating together since we started dating in 2005. Many times it was just him and I. We would buy one of those small turkey breasts at the grocery store (and people would tease my hubby in line). They were some of the best Thanksgivings. Once we got married we hosted Thanksgiving. No family, just friends. Friends that couldn’t go home for Thanksgiving just like us.

There have been two Thanksgivings that my husband was not able to attend due to his job. Sometimes the military has other plans. This year is one of them.

I am thankful for my husband. He is my other half, and my best friend. Without him, I would be lost. I thankful every day for him being in my life and I hope that everyone is able to spend Thanksgiving with those they love.

My Album 1-001

I am entering this in the Why I’m Thankful Challenge at My Memories Blog. I am thankful for my husband who puts our country before himself.

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I am spending mine with friends out here, and we are going to start making some of the goodies tonight!

Christmas Card

Oh life has been busy!

All of our stuff is officially packed in boxes, and put in storage. Now the boring part... I am left to clean the house, get the carpets taken care of, and do the final walk through...

I did find time to make my Christmas Card! Every year we use Shutterfly. I know I could be crafty enough to make my own cards, but I love the idea of sending a photo to everyone. Especially since we move so much and don't see the majority of the people on our list! I wanted to share my card with all of you!

My mom and I have a competition every year on WHO gets their cards out first. We put them in the mail the day before Thanksgiving. This year, I won't be able to. I ordered my cards too late, and since I am moving... I am sending them to my parents house so I don't miss them. But I will get them out ASAP. Maybe sharing on my blog counts though!

Here is what I came up with, and I LOVE IT!!! I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season. I will be back in Minnesota starting December 1st, and my craftiness will continue!

Campin’ Critters Project

I emailed my mom today. I left Minnesota yesterday and I am now back in Washington. I was so excited to show my mom how to use her Cricut (I ended up giving her my Expression since I now have an E2). She is super excited to start a blog of her own as well, so she will have to wait until I come back in December to get that together. (Movers come next week to put our stuff in storage!)

Today is a big day for her and I don’t think she quite understands it yet. I emailed her about a challenge she could participate in this afternoon and she got super excited to put her skills to the test as soon as she got home from work!

Curt Jensen, an Illustrator of Provo Craft, has a challenge on his blog! My mom was so excited, except she didn’t have a blog put together yet. So I offered to showcase her craftiness on my blog until I came to help her set one up.

Here is what she (my mom, her name is Laurie) created using the Campin’ Critters Cartridge!

009

She made a beautiful nature journal to use up at our cabin in Northern Minnesota. She loves journaling about the birds, trees, and whatever else she can see up there… snow sometimes too. In the email she sent me, she said that she enjoyed the layering features. I think she did a wonderful job! Especially for having her Cricut for only a WEEK!

There is still time to enter the challenge. Be sure to stop by Curt’s blog, TypecastCreative, become a follower, and check it out!

I would have participated in the challenge myself, but its official. ALL of my craft supplies are in Minnesota, and I will not see them until December 1st!

Life, or something like it

Well, I am in Minnesota. For a few more days. My Dad left to go hunting, so I am glad that I got to see him before he headed “north.”

I went to the mall today, and I was able to go to Archivers. Incase you come to Minnesota, be sure to visit the Archivers at the Mall of America. Third floor by Bloomingdales. I am surprised I remembered that too. My husband had to go to some other stores while I oogled everything.

I didn’t spend too much money, since I know I will be back in a month, but I did get some Imaginisce paper, Happy Camper, to scrapbook our trip to the Olympic Peninsula. .

Tomorrow I am going to show my mom how to use my Cricut… and I might make a video of starting up my E2 for the first time! I took it out of the box today, and I can’t wait to turn it on!!

Let me know if you have any questions about the E2, I will be more than happy to answer anything… or try to figure it out for you. I will only have this weekend to play until December, then I will finally be settled. I think it is about time I was able to craft again!!

Thanks for letting me ramble for the past month. And please stay with me. December will be a great month!
