Getting the House ready for the Holidays

So I wanted to do something different this year with our Christmas Cards. We usually get a bunch of cards so I wanted to display them all in a fun way. I also wanted to do something for the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog. I did the blog hop on their page to get inspiration and then decided I wanted to use the Vinyl I have sitting around in my craft room. I only had brown, black, tan, cream, hot pink, and bright blue vinyl so I decided to go with black. Here is a picture of what I ended up doing.

Since we rent all the walls in our house are WHITE. BORING!! So, I cut out the Merry Christmas from the Joys of Christmas Cartridge on my Cricut. I cut the image at 11 1/2”, They were staked on top of each other but I decided to place them side by side. I used ticky tack and hung up the cards under the words. I have plenty of room on the wall to make the collage grow. And every day I get to add to it!

Here is a close up of the Merry Christmas

I hope you are all enjoying your December! I love this time of the year!

Christmas cookies, yum!

Today I am making Christmas cookies for a Christmas Party I am going to tonight for a cookie exchange. I decided to take my chances and try something I hadn’t done. I usually just make chocolate chip cookies (and they are delicious). I am making surprise snowballs. I opened the oven with 8 minutes left and my snowballs are melting… with two minutes left they look like normal cookies, not balls… I hope I can reform them when I am supposed to “ROLL” them in powdered sugar.

IMG_0095

So I couldn’t reform them so….

IMG_0096

I stuck a marshmallow on them and melted them slightly in the oven. Then I…

IMG_0100

Tried one that I didn’t put the marshmallow on. It sure was yummy. I put Dark Chocolate M&M’s in them (that is the surprise). They are my FAVORITE!

After some thinking, I decided to add a face and a ‘little hat’ on the snowmen. It looks more like a french beret or a little toupee.

IMG_0102

So now I have a snowman army!

IMG_0103

Note to anyone trying to decorate with chocolate. The coal dots did not like me on the face, so I ended up turning them into smiley faces.

The recipe I used for the Snow Ball Surprise cookie recipe can be found at the link.

I am going to sprinkle some more powered sugar on them before I leave to give it the “just snowed” look.

I am enjoying the Glee Christmas CD as I am making these. Wonderful.

Birthday Time!

So one of my older brothers (they are both older than me, but the younger of the two) is turning 31! So for him, I made him a birthday card. He is a pretty cool brother. How many times can you say that your brother is a musician and actually has an album. You can see his album here at SlowSpokes. He is the one referred to as EMS. I once knew what it stood for, but I no longer remember. It must be my 26 year old brain. It sounds odd that I have a brother that is a --- get this --- a rapper, but he is actually pretty good.

OK so on to the crafts! I made him this card.

Since he is into music, I used Indie Art Cricut Cartridge for the cassette tape and Sweet Treats for the Hip Hip Hooray. The black and grey paper are from DCVW Street Lace Stack (which I absolutely love).

I do challenges every now and then. I really want to get more into it, I just have been trying to get some other things taken care of first. This is for the challenge from My Pink Stamper. The challenge was to make a birthday card!

Now back to the Christmas projects!

My wreath is finished

I finally finished my wreath! Thank you for the advice on not adding black. As much as I LOVE black, I think it looks best at how I kept it. So on to the pictures!

Now for a close up! ( I hate using a flash, but it shows the true colors)

I added little ornaments, and jingle bells!  I love this wreath. On to work on more! (and clean my house after super projects galore)

I’ve been crafty. I just need to finish some things!

So I have been crafting up a storm lately! I have finished a project which I am going to send to my amazing friend at AnnabelleBumps. Here is a sneak peak of the fabric I used… My husband even said he thought of her when he saw it.

IMG_0006

So what else have I been working on? Well, I have been scrapbooking, here are a couple of pages I have been working on. (Just a glimpse)

IMG_0015

And I am working on a wreath. (I ran out of yarn, so I am debating on using black, or just buying more yarn, what do you think?)

IMG_0020

Oh and not to forget the reason why I made something for Annabelle, I am trying to sew a dress… Here is the pattern and the fabric I am going to use. The polka dots are the lining, and the other is a black satin for the main part. I still have no idea what I am doing!!

Plus I want to make a paper wreath, and I need to create a white elephant ornament by next Saturday! Oh busy busy me!

Oh, and I got my YourStory in the mail yesterday. I need to now make my Mom’s Christmas present…

Happy Thanksgiving!

This morning I woke up to this

IMG_1058

MORE SNOW!! My puppy loves the snow too!

IMG_1071

My husband and I celebrated a wonderful Thanksgiving for just the two of us. We made a turkey breast, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, green bean casserole (with cream of chicken soup), and stuffing. For dessert I made some homemade chocolate mousse. It was delicious! My husband even said it took him back to the chocolate mousse his grandma used to make. That made me feel great! To top it off we had wine, beer and homemade Irish cream.

When all finished, we like to search the internet for great sales (we are not black Friday shoppers). I have no intention to have a fight or be let down by a sale so we stay home – and shop online. I did make a purchase tonight. I bought a YourStory. I couldn’t help it! It came with tons of goods and it only cost me 29 bucks! That’s it! I am so excited. I already know what I am going to make first, but I can’t tell you just yet. You’ll have to wait and see!

I am so thankful for everyone in my life. I am thankful for my amazing husband who is so gracious to let me be a stay at home wife. I always wish to be able to spend more time with my family, but with our lifestyle its not a possibility.

I am going to craft this weekend. My craft room is a mess right now, which is not at all inspiring, so I need to clean it up and get into the holiday spirit. If all goes well we will put the tree up tomorrow!! Woo Hoo! Its Christmas time!!

New Design

I have been playing around with a new design for my blog. I was looking at some thing and realized I bet I could do my own. So I am trying to be creative in a web sense, so please don't mind my mess for the next few weeks. Things may be starting to change (appearance wise) as I am learning along the way!
