Big News

Yes, I have been MIA for a VERY long time. But I think I have a good reason…

I am pregnant!

We got back from our vacation in Australia mid August and have several visitors come visit. We found out we were expecting and I have not been the same person since.

I have been so tired and found myself busier than ever! All I want to do is sleep, and it makes me quite unproductive.

I am almost 24 weeks along right now, and due May 3rd. Here is me just before Christmas.

and then again at New Years!

We also found out just before Christmas that we are having a baby girl! We are so very excited. I was almost 100% certain we were going to have a boy, but it has now sunk in, and I can’t wait to decorate! We decided last night that we are going to do a Koala Bear themed Nursery, since A) my love for gray is insane, and B) We fell in love with Australia. We will definitely add some cute girly touches, but I am not a big Pink person, so it will be interesting how it all turns out!

I hope your craftiness is great! I really miss glittering, crafting, and sewing but I know soon that I will be able to clean out my other room, and start working on my own baby quilt, and glitter projects!!

L Letterpress Christmas Cards

Before I know it, Christmas will be here. So, I am starting early on my cards. Last year I purchased a personalized L Letterpress Template. I couldn’t wait to use it, but I got too busy last year with all of our crazy moving adventures. So I am making them this year.

I love color, so I didn’t want to do too many traditional colors. This is what I have done so far.

Right now my favorite is the blue and red. I have a ton more combinations! I should get back to it!! If you are interested in learning more about the Lifestyle Crafts Letterpress or want to get one for yourself. Check it out HERE!

A Day of Quilting

I had guests for a couple weeks, and I had been super busy. Yesterday I was able to pull out my sewing machine to work on a few baby blankets or baby quilts for the many pregnant woman I know.

Here is the top of the one I am going to give to my cousin. I am still figuring out if I want to add a border, trim it, or what.

I totally screwed up on this and wish I had ironed after each triangle, so the back side is a little crazy. I learned my lesson.

Next is a quilt that I had been wanting to do for a long time. I had purchased 6 mini charms from Simply Color by Moda, and I wanted to do a simple colorful baby quilt with it.

I will be adding a border to this one. I am thinking gray. I do have more squares and could do a square border around it, but I am all out of the pinks. But I have some of the fabrics to do a double border. We will see what I end up with, I could always do white too. Any suggestions?

This one is not perfect at all. I was working on trying to match up the squares. I am not the best, but I got better with practice. If I love this so much I might keep it as a wall hanging. Do you see Lucie hanging out under the table? She has to be near me all the time.

Next week I am hoping to get my L Letterpress out and work on some cards! I have been neglecting it while I got the house together, but I have some new templates I want to play with. I would also love to get my Christmas Cards done early!

Merry Glitter Christmas!

Of course, I get to do the honors of having a glitter post on Christmas. And what would be more appropriate too!

Today I have a simple way to decorate for the holidays (and even before and after the holidays). I made some decorative solar candles!

Products Used:

Art Glitter – #280 Lime Rind Ultrafine Opaque, #175 Retro Red Ultrafine Pearlescent, #335 Sun Ray Chunky Opaque Hologram

Double sided tape

Solar Candles

Razor blade or box cutter

Paintbrush (used to dust off excess glitter)

I started with my plain candles, that I picked up the hardware store by all the holiday decorations. They came with stakes so if you wanted you could even put them outside.

I started with the double sided tape and made patterns on each of the tree candles.

Then I peeled back one piece of tape, and sprinkled on the desired glitter color.

And I continued to do so, until all of the double sided tape was covered. On some of the patterns, you may need to cut some of the tape. Such as the crossing over style I made. At every intersection, I had to cut the tape so that I could pull the tape off. It took longer, but looked super neat. Here are the completed candles.

I hope you enjoyed this simple glitter project. Be sure to stop over at the Art Glitter Blog to see another creation I made using other festive holiday colors!

Have a very Merry Christmas, and I hope Santa was good to you! He spoiled me rotten this year (I got an iPad!). Let’s hope next year I have a house of my own to decorate!

MERRY CHRISTMAS

and a GLITTERY NEW YEAR!
