Glitter Baby Feet

My nephew Owen turned ONE!!

And to celebrate I wanted to make something fun to give their family as his birthday gift. They already have a 2 year old, so I knew they have MANY toys. I wanted something to capture his age, and for them to have for a long time to come.

One of my best friend’s sisters gave me the awesome idea of glittering his foot prints!

So immediately I knew I had to try it, since I have never seen it done before! I wanted to keep in a secret from my sister in law, but it helps that I watch my nephews often with my mom now that she is off of work for the summer.

Here is the finished project, and I will show you how I did it!

Supplies:

  1. Construction Paper
  2. Designer Dries Clear Adhesive
  3. Art Glitter, #79 Black Ultrafine Opaque Glitter
  4. Paintbrush
  5. Picture Frame

I started by taking my nephews foot prints. I asked my mom to grab a light colored ink, so that it would not leave much color on his feet, but she grabbed black… We put the ink on his feet, and pressed them onto the paper fairly close to each other. (Getting the ink off his feet was another story)

The ink looks purple, but it was black. You can use whatever color you would like. I then painted on the adhesive so that I could go around as many cracks in his feet as possible.

I did the foot in sections. I would paint on some of the adhesive, sprinkle on the the glitter, shake it off, and then repeat it over and over until I finished both of the feet and covered everything I wanted.

I put the paper into the frame completed the look!

HE LOVED IT!!!

I hope you liked my project. Now if I only had a niece and I could do this with pink glitter!! Imagine the possibilities! I did choose black to keep the glitter as masculine as possible.

Be sure to stop by the Art Glitter Blog to see another project that I created using more bright colored glitter!

What a wonderful gift! The glitter makes it more fun than just ink. Genius!
