Hoo Are you? and anniversary update!

NightOwlCraftingwhobutton2

1. Do you decorate for the 4th of July? – It sounds sad, but no.

2. Do you you buy fireworks for the 4th of July? – nope. They are illegal here. I guess you could get them on the Indian reservation, but the cops are sitting around the corner waiting for you to leave.

3. How do you celebrate the 4th of July? – Lately (past 3 years) my inlaws have come in town to visit that weekend. When I was a kid we would go to my grandparents in Hayward, WI though… those were the best!

4. Do you have a family member that is serving our country? – Yep, my wonderful, amazing husband. And TODAY is our anniversary!

5. Do you dress in red, white, or blue on the fourth? – I try, but since we are military, I always hate to overdo the red white and blue. There is a point where it gets too cheesy. I am proud to me an American, but I would rather not look like a walking flag.

Alright, now ready for my weekend update… well, we headed to Leavenworth, WA for our anniversary. We had been there a few times before, but only went for day trips. This time, we spent the night, and brought the dog!

IMG_0060

We went on a wine tour, and met some super fun people. here is a picture of all the girls.

IMG_0052

(That’s me in the green). There were 10 of us total, and never got a group picture. But we visited 3 wineries, and tasted about 20 different wines. We sure did have a good time. After the wine tour we went out to dinner at Andreas Kelller, a German restaurant (why not in a German town).

IMG_0062

We drank some delicious German beer, before we met up with some of the new friends we made on the wine tour for some more beer and some good music.

Needless to say we had a great time! Today is our actual anniversary so we are just hanging out. I am going to make Buffalo chicken tacos for dinner, and I am leaving bright and early tomorrow morning to go geocaching (My friend and I are going down to Portland to visit the original cache, and then to geocaching headquarters in Seattle). Super excited!

This week will not be filled with crafts, since I will be out of town. If I have time later today (after I clean my house, since the in-laws will be here on Friday), I will post something. Next week I will be finishing my sign that I started a while ago. I can not wait to show you how it is turning out!

Have a great day!

Fancy Framework Pretty Purple Birthday Challenge

I made this card for the Pretty Purple Birthday Challenge.

I love the color purple so I thought I would join in! This card had to be purple, use ribbon, and bling.

The purple paper is Recollections, the ribbon is Offray, and my bling is jewels from my i-rock. Hope you have a wonderful weekend! I am going to celebrate my 3rd anniversary with my husband! We have some fun plans, so I will share what we did once the weekend is over!

This is my Father’s Day Post

Yes it is! Father’s Day weekend is my favorite weekend of the year. I do believe it is my dad’s favorite weekend too. I remember when I was setting a date for my wedding. I told my dad it was going to be in June. He said as long as its not Father’s Day Weekend. Ok maybe he didn’t say Father’s Day weekend. I am sure he said, Back the the 50’s weekend. Yes, it is that important, a car show trumps weddings. I had my wedding the weekend AFTER because of this car show. We do love our car shows!

So, as I have said before, I was not able to go home this year for Father’s Day weekend. I would have been able too, except that my mom decided to take me to Europe in less than a month (woo hoo!), and could not afford to fly back home twice in less than a month. So, I was not able to go to back to the 50’s. But I am sure my dad’s car (which he finally finished 3 years ago), looked as amazing as always!

dads car

n16901045_37024846_5963n16901045_37024859_9787

My dad also loves his new four wheeler they got for the cabin. It is an orange color. So for Father’s Day, I made a him a card from my new cartridge, Campin’ Critter (Thank you Julie).

IMG_0403

It was perfect! Here is a picture that I found on my mom’s facebook of him with it.

200083_1870578293679_1517772923_2008349_1939061_n

The resemblance is uncanny! Oh my Dad is amazing though. Check out what I wrote about him to Oh My Crafts! I even won their Father’s Day contest!! Click on that link and you can see a couple of pictures of me and my dad too!

Well, I should get going it is GORGEOUS here today! I have spent the day making cards for Operation Write Home that I will be posting on Inking it up Crazy later. So sorry if I have a bunch of posts later… anyways. I hope you are all back in the swing of things today. I am going to go for a walk soon with my friend Sue!

Papercraft Star, Letter Challenge (STAR)

I decided to make a card for the Papercraft Star challenge. And I did challenge myself a little…with letters! Haha. So here is the card I made.

IMAG0140

S – Sentiment or Shaker

T – TEAL (I used the color teal – I hope that counts!)

A – Adult beverage, I wanted to do a beer, but I didn’t have a beer cut or stamp

R – Rhinestuds

I was thinking the quality was not going to be the best because I took the picture on my cell phone, and then emailed it to myself. But It looks pretty good!

Happy Father’s Day! I will post the card I made for my dad tomorrow. I am also super bummed. My Father’s Day gift got to my dad on Saturday, but they were not home and apparently a large flat rate box is too big to leave at their house, so he has to pick it up at the post office. Which was closed by the time they got home… and he can’t get it until Monday now. I am sad because I got him something I know he wanted to wear today…

Hope you all have a wonderful day, and happy father’s day to all those amazing dads out there! (Even the puppy dad’s like my hubby.)

Oh what a week it is!

My husband is home! Yeah! But that means, I am spending more time with him than in my crafting space. I have a million projects I am working on too… Oh man. It is going to be one of those weeks. More that I want to do, than what I should do.

I am have been super delayed on my 30 day pictures… well because weather, and things aren’t playing along with what I am able to do. On a brighter note, my friend Sue and I are going to start a blog. We have been in deep discussion on this amazing plan (and if you like a fun afternoon cocktail, you might like it too). I will keep you posted on our plans, but I am getting super excited about it.

Next weekend is my 3rd anniversary. Yes, I am still fairly young, but I am hoping that the hubby will home for this one. He missed the first one, and made home just in time for the second. Keeping my fingers crossed a week from now, but our lives change day by day, and so does that schedule he works from.

Father’s day. My favorite day of the year. Well again, 3rd time, I am not home. Which stinks, and this picture shows it all.

el camino

This is my dad’s car. A 1959 El Camino. It is his baby, well since I left home. He told me it would be done for my high school graduation in 2002… it wasn’t. He said, college graduation in 2006 it would be done… nothing. I said I want it at my wedding in 2008. DONE. One week before I got married (Father’s Day weekend) it was finally done. Thirteen years in progress… Also known as Back to the 50’s. If you are in MN and go, and see this car. Tell my mom and dad that you know me, or that you are scrapbooker. My mom is and I am sure she would love to hear about it. I am going to get her blogging here soon. She just does not understand it all… she will this winter I will teach her.

Well, I should be off to bed, its almost midnight here, and I will show you the card I made my dad for Father’s Day tomorrow.

Have a great night (even though I am sure its day time when you read this).

Hoo Are You?

Happy Tuesday!

I spent my day cleaning the kitchen and making coffee cake. Which I am eating right now, and its delicious!

So, I was wandering around blog world and stumbled upon Night Owl Crafting. (Thanks to I Heart My Glue Gun.) Every Tuesday she asks questions and everyone links up and checks out the answers. I love things like this, so I am now going to be participating. So here we go!

1. What is you favorite summertime snack? – Popsicles. I love them. I finally bought a thing to make homemade popsicles. There is going to be some experimenting this summer.

2. Do you tan at all? (tanning bed, outside, spray, etc) – I have used a tanning bed 3 months in my life. Once before I got married, second, when my husband returned from deployment the first time, and currently. Since I am moving, I am using up my membership and getting a base tan before I head to Europe.

3. What is your favorite activity to do outside? – Geocaching. I love it! It’s addicting, and free. What is better than that!

4. Do you recycle? – Sure do, reminds me that I have to take out the trash and recyclables here tonight! Thanks for reminding me!!

5. How hot is it where you live today? – The high today was 60. Its now 55 and cloudy. Looks like its going to rain… not surprising at all.

Corks & Canvas

Last weekend I went to an event called Corks & Canvas. It sounded fun, painting party and wine tasting! So I went with a few of my girlfriends and we ended up having a blast.

Here is what I painted:

IMG_0384

It was fun to hang out with the girls, have a few drinks and paint. If you are in the Seattle area, and interested in going to one of these super fun parties, visit Corks & Canvas website. Now, my husband hasn’t seen my painting (and I think we are all know that I am no Picasso), so I hung it on the wall. We will see what he thinks when he gets home.

I wish I would have brought my camera… afterwards we ordered dessert from the restaurant we had our event at. Oh my goodness, they were delicious. My favorite – crème brulee. yum.

Have a great day.

June Imaginisce Challenge

Over at the Imaginisce Blog, their June challenge is going on. I finally own some Imaginisce paper so I can play along this month!

Here is the challenge quoted fro the Imaginisce Blog

Image from Pinterest

Here's the criteria:
- Create a card, layout or off the page project using atleast 75% of Imaginisce products.
- Use the delicious picture from Pinterest as your inspiration
- Somewhere on your project you must incorporate some of the lyrics of the Cliff Richard song, Summer holiday
- Upload your project using the Linkitz at the bottom of this post by Saturday, 25th June.
- Winner will take home their very own i-top with accessories to the value of $75 or current collections of their choice to the same value.

Summer Holiday

We're all going on a summer holiday
no more working for a week or two.
Fun and laughter on our summer holiday,
no more worries for me or you,
for a week or two.

We're going where the sun shines brightly
we're going where the sea is blue.
we've all seen it on the movies,
now let's see if it's true.

Everybody has a summer holiday
doin' things they always wanted to
So we're going on a summer holiday,
to make our dreams come true
for me and you.
for me and you.

So, without further ado. Here is what I came up with.

IMG_0387

I used the Berrylicious collection for all the paper, except for the white. The white paper. I cut out the lettering using the Cricut Cartridge Opposites Attract. The jeweled swirls are used with the i-rock, and the compact of clear jewels. I also used the Imaginisce stencil for the i-rock to create the swirls.

My concept to integrate the photo from inspiration was to set up the background in a squared off pattern. I wove the papers together, and cut squares to simulate the original pattern. The photos I used are a couple years old… ok maybe 4/5 years old since this was well before we were married. We were in Pensacola at the beach around sunset. It was a beautiful day, and these are still some of my favorite pictures of the two of us… now if only I could get my body to look like that again!!

IMG_0389IMG_0390

I love how this layout turned out. I think it is the perfect layout for these pictures.

30 {Day} 9 & 10

Oh man, time is catching up. I have 30 minutes to get to the next thing on my agenda!! At least it’s a fun one, and I will share with you what I create!! I am off the door to an event called Corks & Canvas. Which equals out to Wine and Painting, It’s a wine and painting party!! Yeah, all you had to say was Party and I would be there.

Before I head out the door I wanted to share with you my day 9 & 10 pictures.

Day nine: Fresh Fruit

IMG_0381[1]

I love Cantaloupe!

Day ten: Animals

IMG_0377[1]

This is my puppy. She was perched up on my bed with her feet on the foot board, so I attempted a new angle, and I love it! Now if I only had a steadier hand then her paws might now be slightly blurry. But  not too bad overall.

Alright. Now off to taste some vino! (If its bad, I will put a bottle in my fridge just in case!)

Day 7 & 8 for 30 {Day} Photo Fun

Oh I have been slacking. I am taking my pictures, I just have been getting busier and busier, and the weather is getting nicer and nicer. I am spending more time outside on beautiful days than up in my craft room. So, here are my pictures from the past 2 days.

Day seven: High Angle

IMG_0262[1]

I went on 4 mile hike yesterday with a friend of mine, and we also geocached along the route. It was gorgeous out. This is one of the mile markers on our way back… it was 2 miles out, 2 miles back.

Day eight: Sunset

IMG_0292[1]

I remembered to do the sunset at 8:45 last night. So I hopped in the car, and drove to my favorite sunset viewing empty lot in a neighborhood near by… and the lot I was standing in probably cost a half a million dollars, but its view is AMAZING. Now this is Washington. The islands in the distance are the San Juan Islands,, and the dot in the water is a Washington State Ferry. What a beautiful night!

I also made a card the other day. I made this for my cousin. I got a coupon in the mail for Coach, and I just got a new bag, so I thought I would share it with her. So here is what I made

IMG_0222[1]

I purchased a Sew Easy a couple of weeks ago, and have been playing with it. This is the first time I used it on a project. Here is a close up of the sewing.

IMG_0221[1]

I think it turned out good for my first try. I think I will try it on patterned paper next. Or as a border. I have five different heads, I will give it a shot in my next projects!

I will post more later. (and I hope to scrap more this afternoon, it just depends on how today pans out. It is only 9am here)

Day Six {30 Day} Photo Fun

Day six has come. Books. So, why not take a picture of my favorite books. So here we go.
Day six: Books
These are my favorite books. I love this series. The first one I read was The Cinderella Rules. It is definitely a Cinderella story, but grown up, like a romance novel. Loved it. So if you like a romance, with a little steam… these books are great. Oh, and they are so girly, right up my alley. Donna Kauffman does a great job, and is one of my favorite authors.

Now onto other amazing things… do you see the black, white, and green thing in the background of the book picture?? Well that is my new Cricut Cozy!! Want to see the before and after?

BEFORE

AFTER

Doesn’t it look GREAT!! Big props to Kathy at Kathy’s Cozies, she does amazing work, and my husband agreed with me when I said, “this is totally me!” If you are in the need of a cozy for any of your Cricuts, ipads, kindles, etc., check her out, because I love mine!! Here is a link to the Her Etsy Shop.

Tomorrow morning I will be posting the winner to my blog candy. So if you have not entered visit THIS POST I will close it when I wake up tomorrow (PST). Good Luck, and tomorrow I will have some time to spend with paper! Woo Hoo!

Just a quick update on Relay for Life… I made it through the night. I got to relay at 4:30pm on Friday, and I left Saturday morning at 5:45am (I had a half hour drive home). I walked a total of 12 miles, and I had a good time with the people there. I am so glad I pulled it through the night!

Alright on to my 30 Day Photo Fun. Day Four was CLOUDS… and there were no clouds ALL day, so when there was clouds, the sun was about to set, so here is what I got.

IMG_0178[1]

I really had wished it was a better could day, but another time. So today was Day 5, Breakfast Today, good thing I thought about checking what it was WHILE I was eating breakfast! So, here is my deliciousness.

IMG_0183[1]

It was pretty yummy breakfast. Egg Scramble with ham, JoJo’s from Safeway (Potato wedges), sautéed onion, and cheese. Accompanied with Caribou Coffee! What a great start to the day.

This week is going to be a great week. I will hopefully be seeing a friend from college tomorrow (ok, I was in college, but she was in High school, but now she is done with college, and  living an hour away… which does make me feel old). I should be getting several things in the mail this week too! The Sims 3 Generations – yes, I love the Sims 3, My new Cricut Cozy, which I am super excited to get and show you, and a few giveaways I won!

I love mail, so this week will be awesome!

Tomorrow’s picture is Books, so I am going to share with you my favorite series! If you are a new follower, click HERE to see what these photos are all about. It is only this month, and I am going to try my best to get these all posted. Next month, I am super excited… I am going to EUROPE with my MOM!!! So I will be MIA for a little while. I might pre – post some things, but I am so nervous because I am going to miss so much in the blog world! I am going to be gone from the blog world for almost 3 weeks!!

Anyways, don’t forget to enter my giveaway. I will draw a name on JUNE 7th (Tuesday morning). I will post some scrapbook things this week too!

Grillin’ & Chillin’ Bug Hop!

Welcome to BugBites first ever Bug Hop, Grillin’ & Chillin’ Bug Hop!

To celebrate the beginning of summer, Barb over at BugBites is hosting two consecutive weekends of Bug Hops.

This weekend it is all about the Chillin’, June 4-6.

If you've come from visiting Maureen at Mo’s Addiction, you're in the right place! If you've just happened across my blog and would like to play along with our Grillin’ & Chillin’ Bug Hop, click HERE to start from the beginning.

Each designer along the bug trail is featuring a project based on the Grillin’ & Chillin’ theme. What’s more exciting is you can participate too by creating a project and linking it up over at BugBites for a chance to win a Big Prize.

But, there’s a twist. Your project must included at least one Cricut cut and at least one of the critters that have been hidden within some of the bug stop blogs. Be sure to visit all the bug stops to find all your critter choices.

While you are looking for the critters, be sure to check out the blog candy that each designer has to offer you. You don't want to miss out on any of it!

For this hop, I decided to post my favorite chillin’ drink in a scrapbook layout! My friend Emily and I created this while relaxing beach side at my parent’s cabin in Northern Minnesota. We did take a trip to the store to pick out our goodies, so we knew it was going to be pretty delicious. After some careful considerations we named it “Beach Bum.” I have made it for several friends, and they love it! (It you do not like alcohol, you can eliminate the alcoholic beverages, and mix Mt. Dew with Blue Raspberry Mixer (and if you add a little Sprite, I bet it would be delicious too!) The best part is that it turns a beautiful turquoise color!

IMG_0094[1]

And a close up of the recipe

IMG_0095[1]

IMG_0096[1]IMG_0100[1]

I used Echo Park’s Summer Days collection for this layout. My cricut cuts were “BEACH BUM” from the Making the Grade Font, and Designers Calendar (Martini glass). I used stickles for the glitter, and my i-rock for the jewels! I love my i-rock so much, that I thought, why not give one away! So if you would like to win and i-rock with some jewels, please leave me a comment. I will announce a winner on June 7th! If you would like to follow me, that would be so nice, but I will not require you to do so. So make sure to leave a way for me to contact you if you win! Here is a picture of my giveaway! (if there is space in the box I might throw in a few little extras too!)

IMG_0107[1]

Next stop...Jen H’s blog, Krafting & Kreating with Jen. See what she has in store for you today.

Remember, once you have hopped to all the bug stops, it's your turn to show us your Grillin’ & Chillin’ project.

Make sure to include a Cricut cut somewhere on your project, include one of the hidden critters and link up your project over at BugBites by Midnight CST June 6 to be eligible for the big prize.

Day Three {30 Day} Photo Fun

Oh, the past 24 hours have been crazy! I stayed up until 3:30 in the morning making decorations for Relay for Life, which is in a few hours.I made cupcakes like a crazy woman all day yesterday to sell tonight, and I can’t even count the number of cups of coffee I have consumed either!!  I will post the decorations hung up at the event next week. They are very simple, but full of glitter! So today, I slept in and finished up my luminary in honor of my grandpa that passed away of cancer in 1999. I am pulling an all nighter and walking the track over night with my team.

I also got an amazing email from Erin over at CreativE, saying that I was her winner of her blog giveaway! I can’t even express how excited I am, and super thankful! It is a perfect adrenaline rush I need for tonight! Be sure to stop by her blog (she is amazing), or if you are coming from over there, I have a blog giveaway in a blog hop tomorrow, so be sure to come back!!

Now onto my Photo Fun. Today was hands. Well, I saw my husband for like an hour last night, and he was well gone by the time I finally woke up today, so I going to post this picture, even though it is not good whatsoever.

Day three: Hands

IMG_0044[1]

This is my husbands hand. The lighting was terrible so I had to change the color. The red cup would have been an eye sore! I only took like 5 pictures of his hands last night. I do love hands in black and white/sepia.

I wish I was posting a crafting picture, but I will have one tomorrow to share. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! The sun is finally shining, and I need to head on over to Relay for Life. Thank you all for stopping by, and I hope you come back tomorrow for a chance to win!!

Day Two {30 Day} Photo Fun

Day two: Your Favorite Shoes

These are my favorite shoes. I love heels. I hate wearing them, but they look so good. It's hard to tell with the lighting, but these are deep purple patent GUESS heels. There is even a zipper on the back of them. I have worn these only a few times. They go with a few things in my closet and that is all, but they are amazing.

Day One: {30 Day} Photo Fun

Day one: Self Portrait

IMG_0460[1]

This is me. raw, unedited. no foundation. only eyeliner on, my item of choice, that I never leave the house with out. Gloomy outside, as usual, but a touch of glitter because I do not go anywhere without it. This is me.
