The End to my Husband’s Favorite Holiday

My husband’s favorite holiday coincides with the ENTIRE month of March. It is my least favorite holiday, and it’s not even a real holiday. He looks forward to March every year to celebrate. What does he celebrate??

Mustache March.

My least favorite time of year. My hubby is in the military, and I think for that reason alone, he thinks that a mustache is cool. Not so cool in my book, but I guess he only has it for one month out of the year. So I deal. Just deal.

I don’t know what it is, maybe it is that my husband is 27 years old, and looks like he is 40 something, or maybe that he just looks terrible, like a furry caterpillar Is stuck below his nose, and riding his lip hoping to catch some leftover food. Just gross.

So I thought I would celebrate the END of month, and I can have my clean shaven husband back!! So I made a card for my friend Kari and popped it in the mail. I got these super cute mustache rub-ons, and I knew she would appreciate them – since she knows my husband, and his love, and my hate for them!

I used DCVW Nantucket Stack, and a the only stamp I own that I got in a dollar bin at Joann’s.

This just makes me smile, knowing that the last day of they month is today!

In other good news, my sister in law finds out if she is going to give me a niece or nephew tomorrow. I got my fingers crossed for a little girl, I would love to play dress up!! Either way, as long as the baby is healthy, I am good. But I still want a girl…

Hope your Mustache March ends today too!

SEI Project

Today I made some time to scrap. Before I scrapped actually cleaned! For those of you who don't know me personally, I am the worst cleaner ever! I link that back to when I was kid, if I didn't clean it, my mom eventually would. So as a grown up, my husband hates that about me... but I did clean, then made it a mess again while playing! :)

I decided I wanted to play with the Corienne line from SEI. It was the club kit for February, and it is so summery! Here is what I came up with.

The numbers are the geocaching code. I am the one on the bottom left, and my two friends that I were with were both pregnant. We rarely get beautiful days like these here in Pacific Northwest. This paper line captures it perfectly!

Happy Tuesday! I am hitting the craft stores tomorrow, I hope to find some new things to play with! What is your favorite product? I would love to give it a try!

Here is the project I made just for this blog hop.

IMG_0629

I love how this project turned out. I have so many favorite things, but I thought it would be fun to see what my favorites are right now, and then 10 years down the road or more, see how they have changed!

First off my favorite color combo is Purple and Green. I also LOVE glitter, so everything that is silver is glittered. Then I added my favorite activities, TV shows, sports, movies, and my favorite car.

Crafts I have made, but haven't shared

Since my parents are in town, I have been super busy showing them around, so I have not had time to scrap. I did show my mom how to use the Cricut, and she made a Jukebox from Nifty Fifties, but I forgot to take a picture of it to show you, and she was super excited that I let her "keep" it. Oh moms. So, I thought I would go through some photos of craft projects I have made over the last year, but yet shared.

This first picture is of a gumball machine that I made for a friend. I spray painted the base, attached a giant Styrofoam ball with a wooden dowel, and covered it in dubble bubble gum! I love how it turned out.

The next thing on my list is the first thing I EVER cut out in vinyl. I have a crazy obsession with Black. I think it goes with everything, and I HARDLY ever wear brown. But I love Black. So I cut out the word CREATE as big as I could, and hung it above my workspace. Since we rent, I only thought it was a great touch to a non permanent location.(sorry for the mess, I am not the tidiest person).

More for later. I should get to bed. I have another day to spend with my parents. Today, we went Whale Watching, and it was so much fun. It was my second time out, and I think I got some great pictures. I will have to scrap a page to show about out little adventure! Hopefully next week I will have some work done to show you!!

Peace.Love.Dove.

Oh my, I have been terrible lately

I have been the worst blogger lately. There has been so much going on in the past couple weeks that I have not even made it up to my scraproom! So sad. But on a good note, my parents are in town and visiting. We have so much planned in the few days there are here, so we will be running around like crazy.

Yesterday was my dad’s birthday. He turned 58. It was also there first day in my little town. So I showed them ALL the sights, and the weather was GORGEOUS! We also took them out to dinner to the new restaurant in town, Anthony’s. We had a wonderful time. We went back to my house after and we had cake that I made from scratch (a light white lemon cake with raspberry cream cheese frosting), it was pretty good. It wasn’t as “light” as I was hoping, and I wanted a hint of lemon, but since it was a little “thicker” you couldn’t taste it. Oh well. It was cake so it was good!

Today, I am taking my parents to the two wineries my husband and I are members at; Columbia Winery and Chateau Ste. Michele. We love going down there, it is a fun relaxing day, and the weather is nice again too!

My parents leave on Thursday so I will making some things and sharing posts then too! I should be back on the wagon, and I apologize I fell off. Life is getting crazy! Have a wonderful rest of your weekend.

Peace. Love. Dove.

What a week!

This week has just flown by! I thought Thursday was Tuesday, so I have been terrible about blogging. I don’t even know what I did… oh well. We all have those weeks. I really want to make a 50 state scrapbook. One page for each state I have visited. I would love to show a geocache, or note a geocache in each state that I found too! So I am brainstorming. I am also working on some other pages, that I will not be posting. I will do some that things to put on here. Maybe one for every one I don’t show. I just need to get into a creative swing of things! More later. Have a great weekend!

Sticky Bun Friday!

Since high school, which I graduated from almost 9 years ago, I have done Sticky Bun Friday. We wore our hair (or at least I did) in sticky buns. The name came from a friend of mine who touched my buns, drenched in hairspray, and then Sticky Buns found its name.

I love Pink and White, and I just got myself some more white paper. Thanks for a trip to Michaels (it’s a half our drive from our island town). I also bought a Martha Stewart Punch (my first punch ever), since I had a 40% off coupon, and the hubby said I could get myself a little treat for being great with the budget this week!

Anyways, here is what I came up with!

IMG_0515

I have to keep it simple. Sometimes that is just the way to go. I will start to play with more embellishments, but the patience is the hard part!! Waiting for the glitter to dry took forever, but a glass of vino helped me out!

The girl on the left is one of my BFF’s from High School. visit her blog over at AnnabelleBumps. She is a crafty girl who loves to sew and knit. I love when I call her and she is at knitting club as a 27 year old! She cracks me up, but she is the sweetest girl I have ever met. I am the one to the right if her (second on the left). Here are some more close ups of the page.

IMG_0521

I LOVE GLITTER!!! Incase you didn’t know!

IMG_0523

The glitter made me feel good today. I am not sure if I told you all, but I am on a health kick right now. I want to get into shape, and would love to have the body I dreamed of before we start having kids. So I have a couple of years, and I have a lot of weight to lose, but I am down 8lbs since the beginning of February. The wine tonight probably isn’t the best idea, but I am looking into being a hoop dancer. Sounds insane, but it looks like an amazing workout! Keep your eye out this month, I have a bunch of stuff I am working on, and my parents will be coming to visit me, so I am sure I will be sharing that adventure with you. I might have my mom make a guest appearance, and try out my Cricut! She is the one that I got my craft skill from, and I would love to see if she will make something to share on my blog!

Have a fabulous weekend!

A page to scrap about

Back in the fall 2005, I met my husband. One of the first events I went to where we got dressed up was the 230th Navy and Marine Corps Birthday Ball at Iowa State University. We were both Seniors, he was in ROTC, and well, I was a sorority girl, so dressing up for events, was my thing. I had never been to one of these events, but there is a first for everything. So I decided to use my Moonrise collection from SEI.

IMG_0499

I used Plantin schoolbook Cricut Cartridge for the font. The rest of the embellishments were all part of the Moonrise collection.

IMG_0503

IMG_0504

I decided to enter this layout in two challenges. The first is SEI February 2011 Challenge, based on the sketch below.

image

The other is the Fabulous Friday Challenge over at Frosted Designs. The challenge was to use metals. I used the metal accents from the Moonrise collection from SEI on this page.

Have a great evening.
